Covid surge: Uttar Pradesh government orders closure of schools, coaching institutes till April 30 – Times of India

LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday announced fresh Covid-19 restrictions, imposing night curfew in districts with over 500 active cases and closure of all schools and coaching institutes till April 30.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath, while chairing a review meeting said, “Night curfews will be imposed in districts which report 100 coronavirus cases daily or have 500 active cases.”

The CM also directed the officials to trace at least 30 to 35 persons who have come in contact with the infected person.

He also pitched for conducting 1 lakh RT-PCR tests daily to identify people who have contracted the disease.

The government, following a review meeting yesterday, had announced restrictions on gatherings of five or more people in religious places for effective control of the Covid pandemic during the upcoming festivals of Navratri and Ramzan.

The CM said that special attention be given to Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi and Prayagraj.

He also asked the officials to ensure that each Covid hospital has at least 700 beds and other necessary facilities.
